Valla Farm Life -1970's
Scanned in from one of dad's old photo albums. Today we have a factory in the industrial estate. I love making boards but it can get busy and stressfull - each board needs time and care, it takes time to get things right, to do a good job. But then you have to pay the bills and you don't want to make customers wait too long for their boards.
I am beginning to understand why Dad made boards on his farm. I doubt as much work would get done but it looks more carefree.

The Vector I left in Japan
These shot of my Vector were taken by my friend Mana san in Japan recently. I hadn't seen him for 14 years when I used to stay in the same house as him in Hawaii. So that was really nice to catch up. Check out Mana's work at http://www.youtube.com/user/DREAMTIMEPRO and http://www.flickr.com/photos/dreamtimepro/
I rode the Vector quite a bit which was a lot of fun and ended up selling it before I left to Shimpei san. The fuller waves I surfed seemed to suit the low-rocker and double edged rails.

TCSS Stand - Greenroom Festival Japan 2010
Setting up the TCSS stand at Greenroom Festival. Bottom left is Elle Green (photographer), Ben Waters (artist), Jim Mitchell (head honcho & artist) and myself. Bottom right - the finished alaias lined up for display. Alaias shaped by Dad and myself and artwork from left- Tyler Warren, Steven Harrington, Jim Mitchell, Ben Waters, Damien Horan.
The Vibe.
Last weekend I went to the Snowy contest at Manly in Sydney and competed in 3 events the opens, old mal and the fish. I dropped into Sage's factory on the way down to pick up a couple of twin keel fishes, a high performance Verve and a Vibe. The waves were pretty fun but a little full so I chose to ride the Vibe which is a little more traditional and quite a cruisy board to ride. It went amazing allowing me to really draw out long driving turns. My choice to ride the Vibe provailed as I came away with a first place trophy, I think I may be spending a little more time on this board. My friends Isaac Fields and Isabelle braly both came on the road trip and also came away with wins in the open womens and the old mal.

Bedford
Dad with his Bedford Van 1980's.
Watched the A-Team at the cinema the other night which brought back some old memories. I used to love watching the A-Team on TV when I was a kid. I must have been pretty young because I can remember I was allowed to stay up past 7:30 which was my bedtime and watch the A-Team which started at 8. I loved that show. I thought it was pretty cool that we had a Bedford Van like Mr T.
I still think the Bedford Van is cool... not sure about dad's orange tracky dacks though.

Here's a little thing.
ST Surf Images captured it.
I surfed. Then pieced it together.
